The Federal Board of Revenue has terminated an officer for lying about the location and date of the seizure of smuggled items and purposefully hiding the cars involved in the smuggling. He personally negotiated with the owner of the commodities for unlawful satisfaction. In the same instance, two additional officers received small fines for misreporting.

The FBR accused Inspector Imran Fareed of the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Lahore of willfully concealing the custody of cars carrying illicit goods, according to a notice released by the FBR. He was also charged with lying about the location of the commodities’ retrieval and lying about the date of arrest (19 November 2021 instead of 17 November 2021).

According to the FBR, Fareed neglected to submit separate examination reports for each of the seized cars. It also holds him accountable for directly bartering with the owner of the commodities for illicit satisfaction. As a consequence, Fareed has been withdrawn from service by the FBR.

It also imposed modest punishments on the two other officers involved in the aforementioned case, Inspector Muhammad Saeed Sabir and Superintendent Nasir Zaman Raika. According to the FBR, Sabir not only neglected to notify his top supervisory officials but also conspired with his colleagues to misreport the facts and numbers of the case. According to the findings, Zaman also sought to hide the key facts of the case, which resulted in a three-year salary cut for both officers.
