The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made it essential for departing overseas travelers to report foreign money worth $5,000 or more at airports.
The FBR also made it mandatory for arriving travelers to report foreign money over $10,000 or equivalent in an SRO.1864(I)/2022 issued on Tuesday.
Persons flying to Afghanistan who have an entitlement of $1,000 must submit a declaration of money in their possession under the modified luggage regulations.
SRO.1864(I)/2022 was issued by the FBR to alter the Baggage Rules, 2006.
According to the revised baggage rules, the outbound passenger, for all countries except Afghanistan, shall file a declaration in the Form as set out in Appendix-C, before or on departure, without prejudice to his entitlement of taking out of Pakistan $1,000 up to the age of 5 years, $5,000 above 5 years up to the age of 18 years, and $10,000 above the age of 18 years, while taking out of Pakistan foreign currency exceeding $5,000 or equivalent, or any other prohibited or restricted item.
Persons coming to Afghanistan with an entitlement of $1,000 must submit a declaration of cash in their possession in the Appendix-C Form.
When in possession of foreign money in excess of $10,000 or equivalent, or any other banned or restricted item, the arriving passenger must additionally submit a declaration in the Form provided forth in Appendix-C, it said.
