On Tuesday, May 10 (Tuesday), a group from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will arrive in Pakistan for key meetings with the government. According to reports, the high-level group would stay in Pakistan for ten days.
The visiting group will meet with Pakistani authorities to discuss budget proposals. According to reports, the loan program would likely be increased from $6 billion to $8 billion after the talks. Subsidies for gasoline and electricity provided by the government will be discussed.
The IMF mission will also address tax and duty collection, among other crucial topics. Similarly, there will be talks on cutting other subsidies of Rs 500 billion.
According to reports, the IMF would give Pakistan with an economic framework for extending the loan program through June 30, 2023. The federal budget for the years 2022–23 will be created in accordance with the agreed-upon economic framework.
