ISLAMABAD: According to a notice released by the Finance Division, petroleum prices would stay constant after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif rejected the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (OGRA) request for a price rise on Saturday.

The decision was made not to burden customers, according to the notice.

In a statement earlier this week, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that petroleum product prices would not be hiked for the first half of next month.

The people’s suffering, according to Aurangzeb, was caused by the previous government’s “incompetence and significant blunders.”

“To get a loan, former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s administration accepted onerous restrictions imposed by the International Monetary Fund connected to rising petroleum product prices,” Aurangzeb stated.

The communications minister said that the government is making “every feasible effort” to avoid adding to the burdens already placed on people by rising inflation.

Miftah Ismail, the Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue, indicated earlier this week that the price of petroleum goods will not be hiked “immediately.”
