LAHORE: Punjab government has planned to train personnel at all of the province’s hospitals about monkeypox.

Meeting headed by Khawaja Salman Rafique (MPA) Khawaja Salman Rafique, the decision was made. Doctors, nurses, and paramedics will all get an education at the University of Health Sciences.

A technical working group has been established by the provincial administration to deal with monkeypox. Medical experts, including dermatologists and infectious disease specialists, have been selected to chair a panel that includes Dr. Haroon Jahangir of the Director-General of Health Services.

No monkeypox cases have been detected in Pakistan so far, Khawaja Salman added. Professor Javed, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences (UHS), made the announcement during the conference.

Prof. Javed said that in order to raise awareness, health authorities would go to pet stores around the nation. He made the point that monkeypox may be spread from rodents to humans, therefore those who raise rodents like squirrels or rats should exercise caution.

A clinical trials location for Children’s Hospital will be built with the aid of UHS. The University of Child Health and UHS have agreed to work together under the terms of an MOU.
