ISLAMABAD: Pakistan summoned India’s Charge d’Affaires (Cd’A) to the foreign ministry on Thursday and handed it a demarche expressing unequivocal rejection of the so-called ‘Delimitation Commission’ report for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmuir (IIOJK).

According to a statement from the Foreign Office, the so-called panel attempted to disenfranchise and disable the IIOJK’s Muslim majority population.

According to him, the Indian side was informed that the whole exercise was absurd and had previously been rejected by a wide range of political groups in IIOJK. He went on to say that India’s goal was to provide ‘legitimacy’ to its unlawful conduct on August 5, 2019.

It was stressed that the Indian government’s ulterior aim could be seen in the fact that, under the guise of “delimitation,” Muslim representation in re-designated seats had been decreased to their detriment.

“This demolished the Indian government’s argument that the ‘delimitation endeavor’ was intended to ’empower’ the local populace. The revised election borders, on the other hand, will further weaken, isolate, and divide the inhabitants of the occupied territories. It will merely pave the way for the installation of another BJP-RSS puppet dictatorship,” it was stated.

The Jammu and Kashmir issue was emphasized to the Indian Cd’A as a globally recognized conflict and a long-standing item on the UN Security Council’s agenda.

It was claimed that any illegal, unilateral, and devious attempt by India to give the Hindu population disproportionately higher electoral representation at the expense of the Muslim population was a mockery of all democratic and moral norms, as well as India’s obligations under UN Security Council Resolutions and international law.

It was also emphasised that the Indian government must refrain from making any illegal demographic changes in the occupied territory, end its oppression in the IIOJK immediately, and allow the Kashmiri people to decide their own future through a free and fair plebiscite under UN auspices, as stipulated in relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
