Former Test cricketer Shahid Afridi faced immense criticism on social media after he congratulated Shehbaz Sharif for becoming 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, Afridi congratulated Sharif for becoming the Premier and asked him to work for the betterment of country.
شہباز شریف صاحب کو پاکستان کا 23واں وزیر اعظم منتخب ہونے پر مبارکباد پیش کرتا ہوں اور اُمید کرتا ہوں کہ وہ اپنی بہترین انتظامی صلاحیتوں کو بروکار لاتے ہوئے پاکستان کو موجودہ معاشی اور سیاسی بحرانوں سے نکالنے میں کامیاب ہوں گے ۔ #PakistanZindabad ?? @CMShehbaz

While replying to his tweet, thousands of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters bashed the ex-cricketer for congratulating the newly-elected government.
In response, Afridi suggested them to accept the departure in dignified manner regardless of the emotions.

It must be noted here that PTI chairman Imran Khan was voted out as PM on April 10. Shehbaz gained 174 votes in the National Assembly today to become the new PM of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
