The Queen’s quick reaction to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s announcement that they will leave the UK shocked them.
According to author Robert Hardman, the Queen released an early statement to limit damage only a few hours after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their intention to step down as senior royals.
Mr. Hardman told the Write Royalty website, “I believe she is very much in charge.”
“And these have been difficult choices recently, really personal ones.”
“She has moved quickly. And I believe everyone, notably the Sussexes, were taken aback by how quickly she responded when the Megxit scandal broke.
“I recall being at the office about 6 p.m. midweek when the bombshell dropped.”
Then, within two hours, we had an answer from HM.
“The problem was fixed in less than a week.”
“She convened the appropriate parties, and they came to a resolution.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle departed the United Kingdom shortly after their announcement. Archie and Lili, the couple’s children, currently reside in Montecito, California.
