KARACHI: Under the fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for September 2021, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has permitted K-Electric Limited to collect an extra Rs3.75/kWh from customers.
Consumers will be reimbursed by K-Electric in their December 2021 monthly payments. It said that the rate rise would not apply to all consumer groups, with the exception of lifeline customers.
Under the monthly fuel component adjustment, Nepra authorized a Rs4.74/unit increase in electricity distribution company pricing for October 2021.
K-Electric has called Nepra to a meeting with stakeholders to discuss the company’s low gas pressure problem.
It alerted Nepra that it was working to resolve a lower gas pressure problem that was causing efficient units to be underutilised.
According to K-Electric, various meetings with stakeholders will be scheduled in the near future.
Nepra has given time till the stakeholder meetings before withholding the money owing to lower generation due to low gas pressure from its claim.
