State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Dr. Reza Baqir Thursday said that to ensure financial inclusion in the country we need to bring the excluded segments of the society into the formal banking sector.
The governor of the State Bank said that the central bank is working with banks to increase the financial independence of people with disabilities by enhancing their access to banking services, giving possibilities for them to participate as bank workers, and raising financial knowledge.
He praised the PPAF and NIBAF-led National Financial Literacy Program for Youth (NFLPY). Under the project, instructors will be trained in financial literacy in order to provide additional financial literacy instruction to over 10,000 deaf children throughout Pakistan.
While giving his thoughts, PPAF Chief Operating Officer Nadir Gul Barech said, “We are dedicated to an inclusive development agenda in Pakistan, which cannot be fulfilled until we empower those with special needs to attain their full potential.”
He told the audience that the PPAF had rehabilitated over 25,000 differently abled people throughout Pakistan as a result of the initiative. We have also enhanced Pakistan Sign Language, among other initiatives, while working at the Family Education Services Foundation (FESF), he said.
Pakistan’s first-ever “Financial Literacy Video Tutorial” for deaf youngsters was also released at the occasion. This visual assistance will allow deaf people in Pakistan to learn about financial literacy without the need for instructors.
The event’s Chief Guest was First Lady Samina Arif Alvi, who was joined by notable representatives of the development and education sectors, the financial community, and the business community.
