LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) added three additional income tax officers to the probe into leaked tax records of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and his family on Saturday.

According to sources, the FBR will conduct an inquiry led by the chief commissioner, commissioner, and additional commissioner into the leaked tax records of Gen Bajwa and his family.

According to insiders, these three policemen will also be fired since they are equally culpable for the disclosure of these tax records.

According to reports, the leaked tax records were retrieved through the deputy commissioner Lahore’s login and subsequently images were acquired from the deputy commissioner’s computer.

In addition, two deputy commissioners of the Land Revenue Department and 15 FBR personnel have been probed in connection with the leaked tax records.

According to the forensic assessment, the whole scheme was devised on these officials’ laptops and mobile phones. The FBR investigating team has also detained two deputy commissioners, Atif and Zahoor Ahmed.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) previously said that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa submitted his tax returns a month before the deadline.

According to Dr. Hamid Atiq, a member of the FBR, the Pakistan army paid a total of Rs393 million in taxes.

He said that the military is the most active institution in terms of submitting tax returns and that the trend of tax return submission is strong in the institution.
