Elon Musk and Twitter just announced their deal. Within a week, Elon gained complete control of Twitter and made significant modifications to the site. One of them was the mass dismissal of employees. Thousands of Twitter workers have been laid off. Yes, it all occurred in a few days. Many workers were dissatisfied with Elon’s decision and launched a lawsuit against him soon after the mass layoffs.
Several additional ex-Twitter workers have now launched a complaint against Elon Musk for wrongful termination. In addition, another case has been filed in San Francisco against the platform for changing the work office into a bedroom, enabling workers to sleep on the job.
Lawyer Shannon Liss-Riordan, who is initiating one of these claims against Elon Musk, said in a statement, “It’s incredibly worrisome that the wealthiest man in the world feels he can walk all over employee rights and not have to obey the law, and we plan to hold him responsible.” He alleges that some workers are not getting monetary compensation or other advantages that were promised to them before Musk’s takeover.
Lawyers claim that this was a covert layoff strategy that failed to give employees enough pay and a 60-day notice period, in violation of California law. Other accusations have been made in reaction to Musk’s firm demand that staff sign up for his vision for the business and embrace a “hardcore” work culture, or take three months’ salary and quit. According to the statement, it is illegal in both cases.
